Writing, Adventure, and Magic

2014 started with an Aquarium

This year I’ve written the date wrong nine times. Yes, I counted. My New Year’s resolution is to get the date correct before February.

The celebrate the New Year, my boyfriend and I went to the Oregon Coast Aquarium. The aquarium was fantastic! We got to see otters, vultures, sea birds, seals, small sharks, halibut, sturgeon,  rock fish, bait fish, giant crabs, fish, and other aquatic life.

Along with being fun, it was an educational experience too. I knew I wasn’t a good photographer, but I had no idea I was that bad. Not even the iPhone 5C could fix my pictures. Now, my boyfriend says fish in a tank are difficult to photograph, but I had to delete more than half of the pictures I took. That’s dreadful. Along with new photography lows, I discovered that seeing Hagfish brings back memories of the nine hours I spent looking at one preserved in formaldehyde for a biology lab. The Hagfish also brought back the urge to vomit. My boyfriend thought the Hagfish were cool, but he also said the shrimp looked yummy.
